Can a tire's low air pressure trigger the ESP light?

The other day I got the ESP light on the dash. Later when I restarted the car the light was off. This happened sporadically a couple of times until I checked the tires pressure and noticed that the front right tire needed air. After I got them all within specs the light never turned back on again. (knock on wood)

Could a tire with low air pressure trigger the ESP light?

I heard that this is possible but only when the tyre pressure lose so much and so fast. Else the Run Flat will lid first before the ESP.
