Lighting Advice

Hi Guys.

So looking to change the lights on the outside of my car. Went to halfords and he said I need H7 (477) for the main lights and 501 for the side lights. He did say that his store is expensive (40 for 2 H7s) and he bought them from eBay for his car.

Question is there was the clear lights and the lights with the blue tint around them, which are better looking? He wasn't able to demo any of them. And also, anybody purchase lights off eBay? What are they like?

Thanks!

Both H7 bulbs that you speak of (clear and blue tint) are halogen bulbs, which means they will both look yellow-ish like your stock lights. eBay lights are "mostly" cheap and you can buy them and change them yourself for a lot less than 40$.

If you want some nice quality and nice looking halogen bulbs i would go for phillips diamond vision.

Recommend anything I can purchase UK wise? Looked at the phillips but they seem to be in Germany and quite expensive.

I recently picked up the Philips Diamond Vision's off Amazon for $45US. I would figure you could get them in the UK for near the same.

Pick up Philips Diamond Visions for your H7 low beams. Probably the whitest halogen bulbs out there. You do lose a bit of lumens though with those. Also be careful when buying those online as there are a lot of counterfeit floating around. Buy them sealed in box and from a reputable seller.

Alternatively, you could also go with an HID solution, but that will be more expensive.

I completely concur. Just had to deal with my first order from Amazon being counterfeit. The item listing on Amazon says if you receive one with "asian" writing it is a fake and to report it. Had that happen to me so I had to take it up with Amazon and make another order.
