AutoShow® SoftGrip™ Sponge

http://www.armalybrands.com/autoshow.asp

On the package it says " Estracell-S sponge material provides a highly durable sponge that quickly floods exterior surfaces with soapy water, loosens dirt without scratching your clear coat finish and rinses fast"

I think I'd have to see it in person, outside of the package.

For reference I use a chenille microfiber wash mitt for the top half of my car and a synthetic wool style mitt for the bottom half.

Chenille microfiber wash mitt:

Synthetic wool wash mitt:

And I always do the two bucket method to help reduce the amount of dirt that can scratch the car (one bucket for car soap+water, one bucket of just water to rinse the mitts after each time they are taken to the car).

Depending on how soft the sponge you linked to is would tell me where I would use it. The way it reads, I might use it as a "top half" sponge.

I buy the stuff I use from the ChemicalGuys.com they've got great customer service and their products last a long time. And they have a Youtube channel with an abundance of tips on washing and detailing!

I use the first one and a spray nozzle with soap reservoir.

I too use a nozzle with a soap reservoir, the Gilmour foam master from Chemical Guys too.

thanks for the suggestions... My friend told me about this sponge he bought at Walmart for around two bucks. He says Armaly is a quality 'made in USA' company and he has been using it on his black G37 with no problem. I guess it really doesn't matter what you use to wash your car just as long as you properly rinse your car and saturate your sponge/mitt with plenty of soap. Most of the scratches/swirl marks develop due to drying the car with dirty or low quality cloths. But for piece of mind I would stick to high quality microfiber cloth.

It has never scratched one of my cars, during the winter I go to a self serve car wash and use to get all the salt and crap of the car. The brush has held for all these years, a good investment.

something I have found useful are neoprene gloves for those winter washes at the car wash here in the northeast. They save your hands from getting too cold and wet for those 6 or 7 winter washes
