Winters Question for C350 4Matic

Not sure what to do here. I ready to get a set of winter tires for my C350 4matic on the stock 18" 5 spoke rims. Now they as we all know are staggered.

Now do I do a staggered setup with winters or do I do the same size tires (225/40/18) all around with stretched tires out back?

I want to stick to the staggered setup but I the safest and best setup for winter.

What to do here?

Skinnier tires are better in winter.

215/50-17 on all four on lower cost rims, so changeover is just a "pitstop". Tire Rack can set you up. Michielin X-Ice xi3 or Blizzak WS80. Don't be persuaded to try so-called "performance winter" tires, which excel at neither attribute.

You'll probably need new wheels. I got a set of wheels for about $112 ea + continental winter studless tires + TPMS + free mount and balance for about $1200 shipped. You can mount tires on the stock rims, but you'll end up with wider tires than ideal and you'll have to pay to have them mounted twice a year. I ended up with 225/45/17. They have 215/50/16 that will fit for a bit cheaper. Also winter tires are soft as hell. You want to be able to do a regular rotation. Staggered would prevent that.

Are you in the NJ/NYC area? I might be persuaded to sell my set-up. They are 225/45-17 Michelin X-Ice Xi3s on remanufactured C300 Luxury rims (non-staggered 7.5x17" just like this one) with TPMS sensors and genuine MB black wreath center caps. I paid $1300+ last year and I'd sell them for around $800.
