Used C250 or New CLA250
Guys
Would you purchase an used 2014 C250 with around 10,000 miles or a new 2014 CLA250? The new CLA comes with sun roof and Pre-wired map pilot. C250 with Pre-wired map pilot.
Many thanks
Alvin

Your question is something I lived. When the cla came out, about a year ago, i ordered one of the first 4matics and essentially loaded it with all the bells and whistles. By the time it came in, march of 2015, i had driven both it and a c-300. The difference really came down to ride quality. The cla with the runflats, smaller wheelbase and harsher suspension just didn't seem mercedes like. Not floating down the lane soft like an american cars, but not one that if you drove it for 6 hours, you felt every bump in the road.
Anyway, I went and bought a loaded c300 4 matic, but even though the sticker was 48k vrs 40K for the cla, I only paid 3500 more. the c-class, as a 2014 last production year for that version, just seemed like a better deal. Now 7 months later, while the cla Looks better, the c-class is a more substantial car. I would would get the c -250

+1 on the C Class.
We have a lot of customers that have owned MB's in the past, they bought the CLA because it was new and exciting. Then they come back just a few months later and want out of their lease because they dislike the ride and quality of the CLA. I have been told they wish they hadn't traded their C/GLK in. I'm not hating on the CLA, thats just feedback I receive.

Go experience both...
Mine of my visits to the dealer I went and took a look at the CLA. Yes they are newer, more modern looking, etc. but while just sitting and checking it out I felt the interior was of lesser quality. And the view out of the rear was horrible. With the rear headrests and small rear view window it was like looking through a keyhole.
I considered a CLA before I bought my first MB( a C300 4Matic). Some of the reviews I read online really gave me the vibe that MB was really aiming to have an entry level vehicle more accessible to the masses.
Go experience both for yourself but I'd suggest going with what could now be considered the "one step up", the C class.
Just my opinion though.

The content doesn't matter. The price doesn't matter. As an ex-C Class owner, there is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that the C Class is the better choice. The CLA is inferior in chassis, powertrain, interior quality, vehicle dynamics. Consumer Reports just reported that MB had a terrible quality year, and most of it was due to the addition of the CLA to the fleet. Don't be fooled by a "pretty face". The W204 is in a different and far superior league...other than the brand name, these are not even close. I would spend more to get a less-equipped C Class than take a CLA.
Strong letter to follow...

The C Class is a much better car. We drove the CLA - a big disappointment. Terrible transmission/terrible ride/no spare. That said, I guess that they are selling like hotcakes. Not for us.

C class is a classic mercedes car and in my opinion looks better than the CLA. the CLA is too round. I love the sharp edges and lines on the C-class. And it drives way better than a CLA.

BEING THAT I OWN BOTH a C300 4matic sports and a CLA 45 AMG.
2 totally different cars I can truly say if you're looking comfortable ride c300 is the way.
if you're looking sports handling great fuel mileage and the wow factor the cla is the one.
if you're looking for great handling street monster with gobs of power and great fuel mileage 45 AMG all the way.
almost 1 year with my CLA 45 AMG and I freaking still love this car .
not one problem.
on the C300 my transmission has already been replaced.

We brought home a dark blue/ash CL250 Sport yesterday afternoon, dealer car with 13K miles. SWMBO already likes it better than she ever did the Bimmer. I have to get used to not having 300 HP on tap, but I like the ride and quick handling better than the 335I. Much more comfortable inside.

I have both in the family. I much prefer my C300.
The CLA has HORRIBLE blind spots and no headroom in the back seat (and I'm short). I also don't like the gear shifter on the steering wheel column, and I hate the driving dynamics of FWD on the CLA vs. to RWD on my C300.
Other than that, it's nice; a really good looking car (but I think my C300 looks better).

I agree that's why I drive a 45 AMG instead of a 250 totally different animal .

C300 over CLA. Too late to add value here but for what it's worth; the C300 blows the CLA away in drive experience. I ditched my lexus F sport for the same reason, too much road noise, can feel every tiny pore in the road. the C300 provides a much more enjoyable riding experience.

agree that's why my C300 is my grocery getter and my 45 is my street fighter.

+1 for C250 - just for the interior comfort/styling alone. CLA is tiny, cramped and has that big iPad-like screen popping out of the dash.
The CLA was a marketing masterpiece and a great way to get young drivers into the brand. I think the refresh of the CLA will probably address some of its initial shortcomings, and that it will be solid performer in the future, like the IS250 for Lexus, which here in Atlanta is about as common as the Honda Accord.
I just picked up a service loaner lease deal on a 2014 C250 with 10k on it for a stupid low monthly payment and zero down, and I love it. White on all-black interior with the flat-bottom steering wheel. Favorite car I've ever had- you'll master the throttle delay in no time and have fun blasting off onto the highway.

I'm 400 miles North (near capital). FWIW here's my input:
CPO C250 coupe. Original sticker 43k. I paid circa 30k. On a recent 450 mile round trip to Carmel it was flawless, fun to drive plus we calc'd just under 35 MPG. With Iridium Silver, the huge sunroof, short overhang, small (but wide) aluminum wheels and sans spoiler - - - - - it really looks (and - IMO - drives like a Mercedes should.
all the best from NoCal
