Is there a way to make bass control seperate when installing subs?

I'm just wondering if the bass adjustment on the factory head unit can remain only adjusting the speakers when I install a sub/amp. I will be getting best buy to install it for me so do I just tell them that I want a bass control either in the back or via a remote, instead of having both the speakers and subs bass controlled together from the headunit? .. if that makes any sense.

I had subs installed in my 08 which had a separate bass knob when I got my 11 with mm package, gps and the flip out screen it was not installed. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Or maybe it's just the installer
