No heater when needed the most

Has done it 2times this winter. Temperatures extremely cold and the heater decides not to blow hot / warm air. I can not hear the fan at all but the controls look normal. This usually happens first start in the morning, then I go to work and all back to normal. Car temperature goes up normally but no heat in the cabin. Is this normal? What can I do to correct it?

How cold? I find the heater doesn't start blowing until coolant temp starts rising from 40

This morning was 16 degrees after a ice storm. The car got warm, climate control looked normal but blower sound or warm air.

I just went through this (live in Michigan). I brought it in to the dealer and after they looked at it they replaced the fan blower and relay that controls it. That assembly can be found under the battery plastic cover on the passenger side of the car. The guy at the dealer explained to me that if you wash the car below freezing condition you might get water backed up because of the drains being clogged frozen. The motor and relay might get wet and stop working at all times. I hope you still under warranty. Sorry for the bad news.

Thanks for the reply. I have not washed the car in 2 weeks because we are getting pounded with snow and ice constantly . Can you tell me how much was the job without the warranty. I want to get ready. Just went outside to run to the store and the heater was fine so I am suspecting that is a frozen issue. Please let me know.

What year is your C300? I recall reading that 08 models had insufficient drainage for the blower unit, and water would collect and freeze.

I've been washing my '10 this winter in below zero conditions a few times without any issue (other than the windows freezing shut..)

Mine is 2009. I called MBUSA and they said that there was no recall on my car other than the tail lights.

My car is a 2011... I checked the paperwork and unfortunately they didn't put a price on it because it was covered by the warranty. The only price was the 109$ fee to check it that eventually they waived because they found the faulty item.

Winter months no blower motor action

Everybody,,,,, I'm a master tech I have a W204 and my blower motor froze after I washed car in the freezing cold just a little ice formed around my plastic blower motor blades! Super easy to fix takes litterally 30 seconds to fix! No parts or tools required! Simply raise the hood pull the left hand side cover over the battery release 3 clips and your there! You now have access to the blower motor blades! Your gonna find ice formation around blower ! Push clear and your done! Thank me after you find my fix!

So I have to be doing this every time there is ice formation in the heater? I heard that the dealers have some sort of blower motor shield that prevents water from getting in the blower area. Any suggestions ?

I did locate the motor and spun it by hand. I would still get intermittent results where my blower would work only certain times. After they replaced it it's been ok. I think the relay is next to the blower and that might go bad as well as the motor.
