Protecting your susceptible MBTex

You can always be very 'uncool' & fit sheep skin covers.

From new I just threw large heavy sheep skins over our front seats ...the MB Tex is absolutely as new at 7 years . The sheep skin is cool in summer & warm in winter & the seats are protected from sun damage & no worries from penknives in the back pocket.

For a special occasions or if you happen to be embarrassed it takes 2 seconds to remove them.

Otherwise get the death adder out of your pocket & buy leather.

Attached photos of the sheep skins in the W204 & of my 35 year old original vinyl seats in the 1980 Peugeot 504 which have always been protected by sheep skin. The drivers side skin on the MB was from a two tooth we bred for coloured spinning wool . His name was Henry & we ate him at 18 months then had his skin professionally tanned.

Just have to give you all the details.

Kind of ironic old Henry gave his life to protect fake leather. How did he taste?
What is a two tooth?

A two tooth is a sheep that is older than a lamb & has developed two lower front second teeth. A four tooth is about 2 years old.

For full details :- http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/***...ging-sheep.pdf

I like your "ironic" message.

He was in very good physical condition & ate very well. Two tooth or Hoggets have more flavour than lamb if they are well grown out under favourable conditions ie plenty of quality grass .

And I couldn't care less what mine would look like at 15 years, since I won't be the owner. Why would I suffer through not using my car, so that the next owner gets' to enjoy the nice interior?

So, at at year 15 do you take them off go" Yay, it's so nice, now I can finally get to use it? "

If you're planning on keeping the car for 20-30 years and don't care that your interior looks the same as scooby doo's van, that's great.

Like I said, it's a great product, that works really well, just not on a c class.

You neglect to mention Mr. Vipsa that quite a few MB owners on this site are complaining of their MBTex failing after a couple of years use .

This could be prevented by using Henrys.

I much prefer to sit on natural skin than vinyl.

Dear Mr. Carsy,

I would have to agree with Mr. Vipsa, I do not wish to tarnish the clean aesthetics of my W204 with something such as sheepskins, as comfortable and protective they may be.

This is something I can respect your appreciation for, although, much like the stance scene, I simply find it in bad taste.(Although sheepskins are practical and have real world use)

Sheep skin covers may be a good suggestion for some, and others not.

Alas, such is the reality with subjective modifications.

Good day to you sir.

Sincerely,

Rodpwnz

At last, a couple of responses.

Thank you for not disappointing.

Mr Carsy.

I don't understand why someone would not use a sheepskin in a Mercedes. It's a lot classier and far more comfortable than a cloth seat cover. Mr Carsy, I admire your raising, eating, and using "Henry" to protect the seats in your car.

Nobody is disagreeing about the protective properties of sheepskin, I just think my black MB tex looks better when it matches the entire interior of my vehicle. Sheepskins feel so out of place in such a modernized and sleek interior.

If I was driving a 1975 VW beetle, sure thing, throw those sheepskins right on them, they will fit right in.

I would wager 95% of the people I interact with would think I'm crazy/delusional to put sheepskins in my Mercedes benz. To me, they look old and outdated. Messy and unkempt even. They remind me of fur mats that my grandmother used to use in her bathrooms. She has replaced them 20 years ago for much classier, cleaner mats that actually compliment the rest of her house's classy furnishing.

Classy is completely subjective. Maybe it's just the area I'm from? The way I was raised? I don't see sheepskins often, probably haven't seen one in use for 10 years.

Besides, I have one tiny crack/tear in my driver seat MB tex, I was quoted less than $100 to fix it. The rest of my mb tex is flawless.

If you still don't understand and need me to explain further as to why someone could have their own opinion on a subjective matter, please just ask.

oops! I didn't catch that you were referring to cloth seat covers...

Mr.Rod,

The inside of a black plastic garbage has been described by many as being more interesting & classy when compared with the W204 interior.

Surely a sheep skin complements & is in better taste even with your refined upbringing .

Mr. Stratman,

Thank you for your kind remark. Henry is forever in memorial in one of my best ever vehicles.

young John.

Mr. Carsy,

It seems I may have offended you and Mr. Stratman with my opinion, and for that, I am not sorry. Allow me to explain yet again.

I very much enjoy the aesthetics and feel of my MB tex, especially since it accentuates the German engineering and styling the whole car encompasses.

I was not implying that my upbringing was so "refined", you misinterpreted my words. I was simply stating that in my area, sheepskins are not the norm. The peers and elders whose opinions I care for would agree that sheepskins would pollute such a clean, tight and sleek design profile.

I like the brushed aluminum trim. I love the modern look and finish. This is my opinion.

If you so choose to flay an animal and use it's skin as car seat covering, that is acceptable. Like I have stated before, you may do as you please, just as I will. You are entitled to your opinion, but if you wish to use such crass descriptions of MB tex, I must disagree.

You both seem to misunderstand that the aesthetic appeal of sheepskins is completely subjective, as in, personal preference. It is simply a matter of opinion. Your opinion is that sheepskin are classy and add to the aesthetics of the w204, my opinion is that they are a blemish upon the modern and elegant w204 design.

There is nothing more to discuss, good sirs.

Once again, I bid you both good day.

Truly,

Rodpwnz

This is fun

Dear Rod,

All of my comments are tongue in cheek & in no way I wish to upset anyone.

I think you may have misunderstood my Australian laconic humour.

It would be a good idea if you took a holiday to our fair land & experienced it yourself.

This is a very happy & helpful forum .

Please do not be offended.

JC

Mr. JC,

My car isn't being sullied, so no offense taken.

I would love to visit your lovely island.

I actually knew of a young lad by the name of Aziz "zyzz" Shaversian who was an internet phenomenon all over the world. I also knew of the crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin, who was a childhood idol of mine. Both are legends of their own time from such a fair land, may they both rest in peace.

So yes, I look forward to visiting one day, you must be proud to share the same nation as such legends.

You and your sheepskin covers remind me of them and their greatness.

truly,

Rodpwnz

Your forbears were hunters & gatherers.

Modern man is loosing touch with his roots .

Every parent should teach their kids to skin & eat a rabbit & to grow vegetables in the backyard as a lot of children have no idea where their fresh food comes from.

A generation or two ago most Australian families had contact with cousins /family who lived on a farm or in the country.

It is not the same today & many people & politicians of the city are loosing the capacity to understand the needs of the bush .

End of my sermon for today

I'm just a soft guy I used to have a pet when I was a little kid and was told that if I don't finish up my food nicely, they're gonna die. As a nice little innocent kid, I believes it
