I know a number of you have your windows tinted, but does anyone have any experience with 3M's Ceramic Series tint? I know tints have come a long way since the ones in the 90's that would turn purple with age, but if I'm doing it to my cars, I want to go with a high quality tint. All help would be appreciated.
The reason behind the tint turning purple is from cleaning the windows with windex or other cleaning agents with ammonia in it. Only use soap and water in a spray bottle when you have window tint to avoid the tint to turn purple.
I actually just got my C's windows tinted over the weekend. 3M is great and shouldn't give you any issues. I think others will argue that Llumar and/or Formula 1 are top quality and a step above 3M, but honestly I'm sure 3M will do you just fine. It really depends on what look you are going for though as well. I went with Formula One Pinnacle series as I noticed that it tends to give off a more "OEM" look.
I had mine done with Llumar Ceramic as my installer uses their products vs 3M. It cost almost 50% more than the regular Llumar tint, but it looks great. Haven't had any issues whatsoever. I think the ceramic was only available in 35% vs the regular which comes in 30%.
Depends what your local dealer uses. Cars don't come tinted from the factory. The dealers bring them to or have a local shop come to the dealer to tint the windows.
Guys, i want to get C300 windows tinted as well. I am in Seattle, WA, can someone local recommend me good place for tinting? I'm actually east of Seattle around Kirkland, WA. So any place around Kirkland, Bellevue, Lynwood, etc.
