Refurbishing wipers for $5
My wipers needed changing after 7 years. Not a bad time frame . The car is always garaged.
I have fitted Australian made Trico rubber inserts into the OEM blade holders.
Method:-
Only one holder end cap requires to be removed
Be sure it is the end that holds firm the rubber insert.
You can ascertain this by noting which end of the rubber insert does not slide slightly,
Use a small screwdriver to ease off the end cap from the back. It is held by a small plastic retaining clip.
Again use the screwdriver to ease slightly the steel retaining tab on the insert.
Slide the old rubber insert out & replace with the new one making sure the new one is 600mm long & has the same cross sectional moulding as original.
Re tighten the steel tab with a pair of pliers & clip back in place the end cap.
The refurbished wipers clean the window perfectly.
I will replace the inserts more often in the future,
Cost less than $5 Vs $66 for the pair.
In this throw away society I am please to recycle my wipers & yes I have a Scottish background.

Perfect timing OP! Although I'm a sucker since I already purchased aftermarket replacement blade assemblies months ago when they were on sale.
Now I know to keep the originals and rotate, however since we are currently experiencing a drought here in CA, I rarely have to use my wipers (and it is garaged, so the wipers get minimal exposure to sun). I'm almost 3 years into the original.

FYI...
$26 shipped with tax for 2. They work better than the OE Bosch units on my MB. Takes 1 minute to change.

Do these need adapters or direct fit like OEM blades?

Thanks Carsy! I just bought a pair on eBay.
They look like great quality wipers and a nice design. Best of all they cost less than half the price of OEMs.
