Dead as a doorknob - all of a sudden
I am able to turn the key, dashboard gets power, but engine does not start. Daylight running lamps get power but power-windows do not work.
The engine does not crank up and there isn't even a clicking sound.
Dealer tells me that steering column is locked because it somehow stops recognizing the key and cost is $1200 ! He also says this is a common problem with this merc model, but mercedes wouldn't admit to it being an inherent problem.
Can anyone share their experience on getting this fix to be paid by Mercedes.
