To answer your question, I did use a DA machine polisher kit for the majority of work and some hand on smaller areas. The DA machine polisher that I bought online from this link below:

As I am not a professional. I just wanted something that I can use myself to keep my cars is good condition that is good quality but does not cost an arm & a leg. So I am a so called weekend warrior
The #8445 works wonders, not just on car applications. I tried it elsewhere and it was money well spend for the small bottle as a little goes a looonnngg way. I did notice my car is getting a little dirty with normal day to day dust but it still shines like crazy. The needs a wash and I am sure it will be very easy to maintain the look
Detailing is not as big where I live in my country as it is a niche market among some car enthusiast and more and more guys are trying their hand at it themselves

I too am a weekend warrior, I haven't bought a DA yet though but I do have plans to do so. Detailing is not that big here in New York City where most people view cars as appliances and the weather is barely nice long enough to care but I try to make my car look as good as possible. I bought some CCS Foam Hand Applicators (Foam pads that look similar to the one that came with your DA) that I'll be using soon to apply a glaze and a sealant.

Is it alright to put the #845 or sealant coating on the windshield? Does it make the windshield glare at night? I was told at the dealership to not put any rain-x or sealant since it causes glare at night

I use 845 on my windows as a sealant after I ran out of aquapel. Never had issues with glare and as long as you properly buff it out, you won't have wiper chatter. Also make sure your glass is properly prepped by clearing off whatever LSP was previously on there (I machine glass polish).

Well in South Africa we have a degreasing liquid called prepsol that is red in colour, works great for all Metallic non painted engine parts. I do not like to use a pressure washer but rather get a spray bottle and spray the liquid where I want and need. Then use toothbrushes, towels etc. to pat try and wipe off etc. For the painted areas, I use window cleaner, some water, and even some detailing clay lubricant
For the plastic trim areas I use some product from Mother's that is in a spray bottle but becomes a nice white goo when you press the nozzle. Smell is also nice
i also try and clean my engine bay when I wash my car at minimum once every 2 weeks. Like preventative maintenance I would say... Hope this helps but let me know if I can help some more
