Lost Keys

I lost my keys to a C350. The alarm went off..it has stopped, but the emergency flashers are still going off. I have to get a new key programmed, but how can I disable it. I don't want to have a dead battery.

I'm going to assume his doors might be locked so he won't be able to get in and open the hood. I could be wrong though. OP give us an up

Last I was told, you cannot buy a key (off of eBay - for example), and have the dealer program it. You'd have to order the key from the dealer, showing proof of ownership, as well as the fact that the car is still in the country - in my case, they wanted to actually see the car. I hope you have a spare at home!

you have to go to the dealer with ownership to order a key. Anyone on EBay that tells you it can be re programmed is just trying to make a few bucks

My dealer wouldn't order me the key the first time I went, they wanted to physically see the car too.

That is stupid. You just need to give hem your ID and they will look up their records and see if you are indeed the owner. After the verification and paying +$350 and waiting for a week or two you will have a new key from Germany. I remember my neighbor bought a CLS and after a few days his wife cleaned a box on their rooms and both keys are inside. He ended up waiting for 2 weeks to get the new keys.

Why is this stupid? You could have sold the car or whatever and no longer legally possess it. Someone could also present forged or fake documents to the dealership as well. This adds an extra layer of protection that doesn't seem unwarranted to me.

Local dealers by me do MB Roadside so surely the dealership can dispatch the key via their roadside or do an roadside stop to "see the car". So no big deal.

Man, it sounds like you got the short end of the stick. I went and got a 2nd key made a few month ago for my car, and it was $300, only had to show them my proof of registration, and got my key in 3 days. They did have to see the physical car before releasing the key, but not before ordering it.
