advise on buying w204 220 cdi
Hi everyone,
First of all let me introduce myself, I am Roy, Indonesian but currently living in Hamburg Germany.
I am planning to buy a car and have been looking around on the local used car websites. I saw this w204 220 CDI with around 87 TKM on the clock. from the picture it looks quite neat. here is the link :

I have been digging initial infos regarding the DPF issues, should I prepare for the worse regarding this DPF issues particularly on that mileage? i read that the replacement cost might hit above 1000 EUR if the DPF faulted. Any alternative beside replacing the faulted DPF to a new one?
Lastly, just quick advise, I know it is not proper to bring in BMW in this forum, but actually i am still devided between the above target and the other one BMW 318 2007, link below:

any replies will be much appreciated. many thanks

G'day Roy,
It is not even run in at 87,000 km so a nice low mileage.
The type of use is important for DPF's ie autobahn driving is much preferred .
Make sure you have a complete service record especially the auto gearbox full drain including the torque convertor. The 5 speed auto is more robust than the 7 speed.
Also make sure there has been no accidents.
An inspection by a competent mechanic would be advisable.
I have a smile on my face every time I drive my 220CDI , even after 7 1/2 years. It has been without issues since coming out of warranty.
Buyer beware , if there are question marks there is plenty more fish in the sea!!
Good luck & let us know how you go.
