2014 Luxury Ride Qulity

Hi I test drove a certified 2014 C3004matic with 11k miles luxury yesterday and liked the car with one exception and that was the stiffness of the ride in general in in particular over highway expansion joints. I had test driven a 2013 3 years ago over the same stretch of road and didn't remember the ride quality being as bad. I drove my 1998 A4 quattro with sport suspension and I hardly feel the expansion joints.

Is this really how they ride or is there something amiss like the tires being overinflated or the tire brand? I suspect they were OEM continentals.

BTW I drove a 2015 afterword and it rode better but not as well as my A4.

Does your Audi have 55 aspect tires? Newer MB, BMW, etc come with 45 tires. which need stiffer sidewalls. (found only on supercars in the 90's). Hence the crashy ride.

16 inch wheels should ride well.

Are you sure it was a luxury? Mine drives like a cloud compared to the sport model I test drove before buying..

Well, there you go

I have driven a rental 204 in Europe with 16"wheels and you get a "Mercedes" "ride on 16 rims with 55 tires. No loss of handling either. 45 tires are really just a fashion statement on family sedans.

Absolutely I wouldn't waste a minutes time with a sport model due to ride and appearance. I'm just surprised how badly the luxury suspension responded to the expansion joints

Makes sense I agree about the handling part.

Hmm, that's just odd. Maybe it was just the one you drove? I mean mine is no E or S series, but it's still a cloud even past expansion joints :/
