yes, the airbag recall was made official last month, but it takes about four weeks to ultimately show up. Better to call your dealer and alert them, since the parts are not readily available yet.

I have an appointment to have the SRS control unit recall done next Tuesday. Can anybody tell me where exactly in the car this control unit is located? Anyone have a photo of what this thing looks like? Just like to have a better handle on where they will be working. Thanks!
Part # is 2048206685 although the replacement units maybe coming from a different source and hence would carry a different part #.
And here is an image of the unit and its location:

Of course, they don't have to remove all that is removed above to get to it. Instead, they go in from the side of either the driver or the passenger footwell.

Also, jut for reference and comparison, here is the updated NHTSA notice regarding the Air Bag Control Module (which was the subject of the thread):
Which had been announced but parts were not available yet. Yet now it appears dealers are starting to receive replacement modules.
Recall # 15V711
Whereas the 2nd, more recent one you see described blow, involves the Driver' side Front Airbags which were originally made by Takata.
This one is Recall # 16V081

IGB - Thanks very much - that is exactly the info that I was after. I do most of my own work - obviously the dealer will be replacing this unit, but I like to know exactly what they will be up against. Thanks again!

I'll even "kick it up a notch" and offer the Center Console Remove/Install Steps... . If you follow those till the end, then remove the Air Conditioning vents, you'll have full access to the Air Bag Module...
