Who Needs a Hybrid?
Today I drove my 2009 C350 from the Jersey Shore to Bel Air, MD and back, mostly highway miles but also counted my time from point to point which included two downtowns and rural areas leading to the highways. I wasn't in a rush so I "peddled" (decelerated up hills and gradually accelerated downhill) and achieved an unbelievable 32+ MPGs!!!
I have to say though, it was the most uninspiring time ever spent in my Benz (or any car) but I was able to do it. There were times on the Turnpike and 195 that I was almost run off the road by the wonderfully spirited Jersey drivers, but I didn't let pride suck me into ruining the feat.
Cumulative trip (NJ to MD to NJ)
One way (MD to NJ)

I too have a 2009 C350 and I get a good MPG on highways. I'm happy to have that car!! It's a good balance between power and gas mileage. I agree with you, who needs a hybrid car?? I know a friend who owns an old Toyota hybrid, she drives a lot, then all of sudden it didn't run. She took it to Toyota dealer and they told her she needs a whole set of batteries!! $$$$
