W204 C180k 2009 BE no power from standstill on incline

My W204 2009 C180k Kompressor (1600) automatoc transmission will not take off immediately on an incline. The problem is worse in reverse gear, however also Drive or D1. The car will not rev as if there is no power then slowly start moving after 30 to 50 seconds and then picks up momentum. This only happens on an incline from the Stop position. If I put it in Neutral or Park you can rev the motor, hwoever in Reverse or Drive going up the gradient it will not start moving till after 30 to 40 seconds and then very slowly pick up speed. What causes this problem.

The first thing you want to do is check the fluid levels---The second thing that needs to be tested and not by you is the torque converter!!

Mercedes Benz parts & labour shocking to replace torque converter

Mercedes Benz claim that the torque converter is a sealed unit, and cannot be repaired hence the new part replacement - it should have lasted the lifetime of the car.
What concerns me is the cost is way too expensive. R31 000 for Torque converter and R21 000 for Labour.

The gearbox specialist workshops have quoted me around R12 000 for a reconditioned Torque converter (Parts + Labour) Can I trust a reconditioned unit or is this a no no.

What are the options.

As you know trust is based upon knowing the individual\shop and will he give you references and how long a warranty will he give you.

Based on the workmanship, reconditioned parts are used every day in the auto repair business!!
