Upgrades/Adding OEM packages?

Having purchased what limited supply there was from the 2013 lease market I'm wishing for some upgrades.

Are any of the OEM packages easy to add on to the C-Class? I've read keyless go is a cost prohibitive. But how about any other packages, Dynamic Drive, ILS, etc. I'd be thrilled to get keyless go and ILS, those should be standard on a Benz anyway. Something about the halogens just look out of place on this car.

What would be an easy or cost effective swap out from a junked or parted out car?

I know doing these at a dealer would be a no go but the independent shops or DIY with sourced used or new parts should be a little more reasonable.

This car really needs to come with a curb/parking bumper warning system or camera, lol. Seriously though, any manufacturer making a car that rides this low should add that as a matter of common decency.

You can get the HID headlights relatively cheap from DEPO, but without ILS as that would be a lot more expensive. You can also do a simple backup camera + lines install extremely cheap.

You can have them installed, the tricky part is having them coded into the control modules of the car. You'd have to get the dealer ($$$) to do it for you, or you'd have to know someone with a Star Diagnostic system/multiplexer and the required software. The third option is to get that system yourself which is a little pricey (I spent about $700CAN on a chinese clone which so far has worked quite well), however you need to have some reasonably decent computer/software skill, or it'll be a waste of money.

Was it the ILS you did?

Do any of the German shops have the system? I recall reading on one's website that they have all the same equipment as the dealerships. Even then I guess it becomes a matter of knowledge.

My plan was to watch for junk yards and part outs. Part of the fun is the challenge.

What is the process when you already have a camera? Is it in the camera or another module? I'm guessing there are no angle sensors since the compass on the Comand system doesn't display it like the Comand manual mentions.

If they say they do, they can probably program it. I haven't done any module installations myself, so far just making various adjustments like throttle pedal curve etc etc. That being said, I've poked around a lot. There are definitely settings that need to be enabled for ILS and other systems. I'm not sure what the requirements of third party addons are, I'm referring to OEM

Having done multiple retrofits on my 2013 C350 as well as my 2005 C230, I can attest that the cost to retrofit options on these cars are very expensive.

On the 2013, I retrofitted lane keeping assist, blind sport assist, power folding rear view mirrors, ILS, and Illuminated Star. Thousands of dollars and hours of labor to complete these projects.

For example...to retrofit my halogen lights to ILS requires new wiring harnesses, control modules, levelers, multifunction camera, new front windshield, in addition to the ILS assemblies. Coding needs to be imputed into the car's VEDOC and then the car needs to be programmed at the dealership.

Oh wow, I expected all that for ILS but the windshield wasn't expected. What does that have that is different?

Did you do the work yourself?

What did it take to do the power folding mirrors?

Process for the lines or the aftermarket setup? If lines, it comes pre-setup with the camera. If whole setup then quite simple. Just pick a spot for camera in trunk, run the power wire to fuse box, run the other wire to back of head-unit and plug it into camera plug with the adapter. I've seen a bunch of threads recently on how to do it.

FYI - I am talking about static lines not the moving ones with steering.

I probably wouldn't be happy with static lines.

I guess the car is lacking whatever angle sensors may be needed. According the the owners manual for Comand the wheel angle displays on the compass view. In my car this seems to be absent. Perhaps ILS would add this? But if so would it enable camera guides?
