WTF? Setting time!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to set the time on the wife's car, and it only lets you set it by the half hour increments. So I cannot get it right. I think it's getting gps, as a satellite icon shows up after I pulled it out of the garage. But also the date is way fubar, 2007 etc. Does this mean the gps is not working?

If you have COMAND and GPS, then the time is set via the GPS

From the manual:
If COMAND is equipped with a navigation system and has GPS reception, COMAND automatically sets the time and date. You can also adjust the time yourself in 30-minute increments, but the date cannot be changed.

It has Command. I think they may have unhooked the battery at the shop to screw things up? So I'm screwed? I'll tinker to see if the gps is working. But when I turned the car on, the map gave me a location other than where we live.

I just checked it out again, and the friggin gps thinks I'm somewhere else. I put our address in and asked for directions, and it shows a map starting 6 miles away and leading to my house. So the gps knows where my address is but not where the car is. This gps has acted stupid before, so we updated to the latest map software a while back thinking this would solve any crap info. But looks like it's not. So, what to do now.

Yikes, I read up a little here. Looks like it's time to get an IPhone 6 and a mount.

It can take a while for a GPS lock. GPS is good at tracking small changes but it takes a while to run the calculations to get your exact spot. This is for any GPS device in existence. It just comes down to the physics of it all.

Cell phones use a combination of aGPS and GPS. What a phone does is compare the WiFi access points and gets the general location through a database lookup. That is why cell phones can get such a quick lock.

I'm not sure how interconnected the GPS and the COMAND system are, but did you try resetting COMAND?

I did reset and it did nothing. But the good news is that it finally sync'd while the car was out being used yesterday. So looks like it's ok for now. But still, on a Mercedes? Lousy system, as this thing could have you drive into god knows where if you are stupid enuf to listen to it.

That's what I was trying to mention above. GPS takes a long time to establish exact location. It only detects smaller change in position quickly. You'll get that behavior with any GPS system.
