Hi All, I was wondering if any of you had experience with replacing the stock mufflers for Flowmasters, and if so -- any sound clips? / which muffler did you like best?
I recently did an resonator delete + X-Pipe install and while that did give it a bit more of an umph at higher RPM's, it wasn't loud enough nor deep enough for my liking.
I'm trying to decide between the 50 Series Delta Flow, Pro Series, and 40 Series Delta Flow.
I tried listening to sound clips online but most were on 500HP+ massive engined muscle cars. I would like to know your guy's experience on the sound on a C350.
If you can find a shop with a nice stock of mufflers you can ask them to test fit the mufflers to let you hear them before they weld everything on. That's what I did at the muffler shop here in So Cal, Mike's Hi Performance Exhaust.
While I never put Flows on a C-class, while I worked there R&D installed several sets of mufflers on a couple of BMW M cars (E36 M3 and M Coupe) I owned. I've had Flows on about a dozen other cars, as well, and heard hundreds of them. For the C350 (or most other small displacement engines), I'd recommend the Pro Series. Those should give the car the deepest growl. The classic chambered mufflers may be too 'tinny' sounding- that's a common issue with V6 engines, although some seem to like the sound.
People have asked me if I'm going to put exhaust on my C250, but this one's going to remain stock. I like the stealth of it (had noisy cars for too many years!), and the turbo four just wouldn't sound good at all, to me, if it were audible.
