UPDATE: if anyone had a similar noise on start up and especially when you turn your steering wheels then check your power steering fluid (mine was way below the min line). This was the major contribution to the loud whining noise.

Hi All,
I was wondering if you guys can help me pinpoint or give me some clue why my noise is making a really loud whining noise when i start it this morning. Usually it would go away after the car warms up but it continues to make the whining noise after i got to work (40 mins drive). I've been reading on other threads and it might be the belt or the idle pulley?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

c350 2009

I had much to the exact same problem and I replaced my belt and upper idler pulley and it went away. $60 bucks for both and took like 20 mins.

thanks! it turns out that is was the idler pulley and also the threading on the waterpump is the cause of the noise.
