Disable anti glare mirrors

Fellas.. the anti glare feature on the mirrors is not working for me (2012 C300) Between my tinted windows and the mirrors at night is starting to bug me. It is more difficult to see. I know that removing the tint will solve my issue but I need my tint I live in very hot climate and it helps a ton.. is there a way to disable the anti glare.... I have searched and have not had any luck. Thanks !!

So the tint doesn't make the auto dimming fail to work but combines to make it hard to see? That's one of the reasons I decided to not get my car done. Plus it's a Mercedes, which is more likely to make curious thieves break in the car looking for things if they can't see inside.

You could go for something like the 3M Crystaline film it will stop the heat but doesn't impact visibility. However, it is very expensive.

Yes with the tint combined with the mirror anti glare makes it really hard to see at night.. I'm going to check out the 3m stuff u talked about. But I was assuming the anti glare was some kind of electric feature I can disconnect or disable... if it is built in to the mirror itself than I guess not much I can do about that..

The headlight sensor I believe is in the mirror base. I'm not sure where the auto dimmer one is located.

Personally I would like to disable my auto dimming mirrors as well and I don't have tint. I just don't like it. To me it just makes seeing cars behind you at night that much harder to see.

Glad im not the only one. But I'm finding many things I'd love to cancel out .. including the annoying seat belt chime... and wiper blade timers...

I put small black tape to cover the rear mirror on top of black dot. It worked for me.

You covered up that black dot. What did it do for you? Did it disable the glare feature on the rear view mirror?? I tried it and didn't do anything. I'm going to double check I put it on the right spot ?
Thanks

There is a sensor in the rear view mirror shaped like an oval. If you hold your hand over it at night when the anti-glare is active, you will see it disappear slowly and look like a normal mirror.

I'm trying to find a way to disable it as it can be pretty annoying at times.

I attached a pic so you understand where the light sensor is.

Thanks camo Mike... can't wait to get home and try it. Hoping it disables the Sideview mirrors as well. I can deal with a piece of tape maybe even a decal over it for the mean time... !!!!

I just added a pic to help what BenzAMX said. I have a 2011 and it definitely disables the rear view and drivers mirror from tinting over.

The most complicated, but best solution I believe lies in variant coding of the front SAM unit. There are options to enable/disable it

No offence, but how is this helping without providing the details on how to do what you are describing?

It is actually. The cleanest way to do it is by using the Mercedes STAR system to disable it. The problem is not many people have the system because it is extremely complicated, so if you can find someone who has one and can disable it you would be golden.

This makes far more sense as I know what the MB Star system is and people who have them. Thanks
