front headlamps
i have the stock lights (halogen?). I want to replace the bulbs to give me a brighter whiter light, without modifications. Can anyone advise. I know very little about car lightbulbs. Appreciate your help. (c300 4matic sport 2010).

I assume you want to stick with halogen bulbs as you don't want any modifications. The problem is brighter and whiter here work against each other. For a halogen bulb to burn in the higher kelvin temp ranges (whiter), they actually have a reduction in lumens (brightness). For many, they are ok with less bright halogen bulbs because they live and drive on well lit roads. For those, the whitest halogen bulbs we've seen are Philips Diamond Visions. If you're goal is brightest, probably Sylvania Silverstar Ultras or Osram Nightbreakers.
If your goal is brighter and whiter, you'll have to venture into HIDs which isn't really that difficult to run a conversion with the only real modification being your $5 dust covers would need a hole cut out to feed the wires.

You'll want an H7 HID conversion kit. Were you interested in 5000K (white) or 6000K (white with a slight bluish hue)?
Everything just plugs together. Here's the Morimoto install diagram:
Canbus cancellers plug in between the ballast output and the car.

Hi guys,
Why a replacement bulb costs CA $220? My front left low beam bulb died and the dealer quotes that much for a replacement. It is Bi-Xenon light, first time replacing it. So want to make sure I am not being ripped off here. Any help is much appreciated.

$220 is pretty excessive for a set of D1S bulbs, but they're probably charging you a fully hour labor on top of what should only be a 5-10 minute job. Just purchase a D1S bulb set and replace it yourself.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Those D1S bulbs provide the exact color as the OEM, is that correct?
I will search Amazon for those bulbs and see.

I just made the same post you did.
I plan on replacing the whole headlight housing and do the HID conversion kit afterwards.
Will be doing it all myself, maybe even do a DIY. I want to create a build thread aswell.
Listen to AZN, he is helping me out with alot of info and cant wait to get the ball rolling.

Osram CBI vs. Original...I don't know which one I should go for. As the xenon normally has the blueish tone, does it equal to the Original then? CBI may be too blueish, not my taste. Can someone shed some light on this? I just want to make sure the D1S-35W will give the OEM light color. The car's manual says D1S-35W as replacement.
There is Phillips version as well in Amazon.

AZN is the man and knows his stuff. HIDs are NOT hard to DYI and they last a lot longer then bulbs from my experience. They are a good investment and look great.
