C300 burning oil

2014 C300 burning oil, just had 30,000 service, needed to add one quart of oil just prior to last 2 oil changes. this doesn't seem right for a new vehicle. Called 2 dealerships and was told twice it is not unusual for the need to add a quart dependent on driving style yet they could
not provide this information in writing.any suggestions??

Is not unusual for the need to add oil between oil change specially if your interval is long. And if your oil is thin is easier to get burn off.

I do not know why you waste a quart by adding it just before an oil change ?.Maybe better to add it half way through & receive the benefit of some refresh.

A quart in 10,000 miles is not so bad . Some engines burn more than others but we are told that tolerances are so close these days ,it makes me wonder why. Once run in it may even reduce the consumption.

I would closely check the dipstick now just after the service to make sure they have it filled to the top level then monitor it over the next 10,000 mile period.

Interested to know how the car is driven ?ie granny or gravel burner.

Agree. Not unusual to burn quart in 10,000 depending on engine/car. Have had this with multiple Mercedes/VWs/BMWs

My C250 has surprised me by not burning much at all right now. But the manual states it can burn 0.9 quarts over 600 miles. Which comes out to 15 quarts per change!

2010 C300..just turned 75K miles Oil change every 10K on the dot. Never had the need to add any oil outside of the oil changes. Same with my other 3 cars.....I didn't think it was required in this day and age.....

It can be hit or miss with some models. The Audi 2.0 turbo engine is known for it.

Our last A4 with the 2.0T was an oil hog. Audi stated that one liter per 600 miles was the acceptable limit! Thankfully, they installed an upgraded oil catch system and the burn rate dropped significantly.
By the way, it was out of warranty but Audi was happy to take care of it once they had a redesign as they knew they had issues with the early 2009 A4s...it was part of the reason we went with another Audi...funny how that works....wonder if anyone on here has anything to say about this....
Anyhow, our new allroad with essentially the same 2.0 (EA888 motor) doesn't seem to burn a drop.

Interesting link. I had the 2.0T mentioned there in 07 VW but it wasn't part of the model years listed in the article. The manufacturers insisting it's normal is crazy.

VW/Audi never admitted the issue but it turns out many cars with the oil burn issue were fixed by installing a new valve cover. That solution came from the online community and not the manufacturer.

Are you changing the oil or a mechanic? Depending on models, not all C300s hold the same amount of oil. My 4matic is different by a long shot so if it wasn't double checked after initial fill up I would start there. Doubt you're burning much.
