2012 C250/iPhone question
Just wondering if anyone here is familiar with the base COMAND system (no nav, no HK) and iPhones. Mine (iPhone 6+) connects very nicely via Bluetooth to stream my music library, Pandora, etc., so no issues there (phone calls sound amazing, too!).
My question has to do with text messaging- supposedly the car can display texts, but since I bought it last summer, it does not. Is this something to do with Apple's 'iMessages', or am I still missing a setting somewhere, or...?

Actually, according to the 'Audio 20' manual, it can (and should) receive text messages. It does specify 'SMS', although I don't know what that is. That's why I'm wondering of Apple's "iMessage" doesn't work. The manual is severely lacking in detail.

Just checked that- the 'show notifications' is set to ON on the phone- has been since day one (with the car).
Was out in the car a bit ago, as well. When I click on 'text messages' in the phone menu in the car, a box appears that simply says 'no text messages'. There don't appear to be any other settings I may have missed.
This isn't a big deal; just one of those little things I think about that bug me until I figure it out.

I was having this issue too. But I noticed the command doesn't show your 'existing' text messages, only 'new' text that you have received after you connected your phone to your car. If that makes sense?
I initially hooked up my phone via Bluetooth and clicked on the 'text messages' with no messages showing. But after driving and actually receiving a new text, I was then able to read my text on the car's display. Kinda cool...!

I'll probably just let it go. I get texts from my wife and my daughter and almost no one else, so it's not a big deal. I just like things to work 'as advertised'.

If I remember correctly, my salesman mentioned this (had the car for 6 months now), but while I don't receive many texts, I have had them come in while in the car; I hear the alert sound if I'm streaming music. I do not get any sort of message or alert on the audio screen that would let me know a text had come in.
