Side mirror cover adhesive?

When you take apart the mirror cover to remove the electronics the end of the middle strip is attached with some adhesive. Anyone know the best thing to use when reassembling this. I'm talking about the part circled red in the attached pic.

I am having the same issue after purchasing the carbon fiber mirror covers. I am thinking about contact cement or double sided adhesive tape.

Use a 3M trim double sided tape. I think it is available in various thickness.
