Could someone offer me some insight into why the C class 300 is rated so harshly by Consumer Reports (2015)? Is it really that problem prone and unreliable after the rebuild?

That's sad if that's the case. We still have our 08 W204 and (to me) a shining example of how a car can be built right the first time.

First year of a new model is bound to be full of kinks that need to be sorted out. Add in the number of options that gets added on to the base model creates a number of variables where things can go wrong without live testing so the plants can adapt.

It is a very big redesign and highly electronic on top of that. I think it will have a good future.
