Anybody tried OBD-2 to reset SRS? Is it working?
I had to remove the entire dash in my 2002 Mercedes C230 Kompressor to fix AC stepper motor problem, then after I put everything together I got the SRS light turned on and message "restraint system, visit workshop SRS" showed up on the screen. I believe it is because I had to disconnect airbag to remove the dash.
I had a pretty extensive search online but couldn't gather any easy/practical fix for resetting SRS message/light. Getting the dealer reset it ($138+...) is not very appealing and I saw a way to reset it by using an OBD-2 scanner "iCarsoft i980" in the link below:

I am not sure if this will reset the problem for sure, any ideas???
I believe I didn't mess up with the airbags when I was fixing stepper, so I am 99% sure there is no problem with airbags, it just needs to be reset I believe.
Seems more reasonable of buying one of those "iCarsoft i980" instead of paying $138+ to dealer, but I wanted to ask if anybody has any insights about the SRS message and OBD-2 scanner and if it will fix my problem?
Note: I also have "BRAKE LINING WEAR visit workshop" message on the screen despite the break pads are in pretty good condition (fronts are new and rear 40%), but I consider this as secondary compared to SRS light.
I appreciate any comments,
Baha
I have the exact same problem, after removing and replacing stepper motor the SRS light has came on.
Did you ever find out what caused this or if you simply reset?
I was looking at ODB11 readers on amazon, some are quite cheap, but not sure if they will reset any codes to do with the SRS.
