Need help with an 08 C300.

Hey guys, kind of new here, but been reading around for a long time. I recently got caught in a flash flood basically and hydrolocked the engine. I'm trying to find a replacement engine but want to make sure I find one that will work right away. I have a 2008 C300 Sport with the 6sp manual. If anybody knows, can I use an engine from any C300 that isn't flex? Would one from a 4matic work if I use my wiring and ECU? Thanks for any help and information!

Post you VIN and the engine model number is the engine that I would suggest as a replacement ans all others may be suspect to ECU differences especially a standard vs an automatic and or 4matic!!

Vin is WDDGF54X38F068731. I'm not too worried about ecu or harness replacement as mine id still good. I just need to figure out which longblocks I can use. Just not sure if a 4matic engine had much difference. I can still use my flywheel and clutch. Also just trying to figure out if the flex models have different injectors, which im sure they do. Thanks.

Hey Biff, you don't know what you are doing and you will be back whining because you made a mistake---your ECU and wiring are designed for your engine type and model, not just the car so don't think that you can put any engine in the car and have the ECU work, because it won't!!

Your engine is a 272.947 and that is the only engine that you want to look for else you never want the car to run again---least case is use a rebuilt short block(272.947) as you have all the other parts.

Your transmission is a 716.671 and that's what bolts up to your 272.947 nothing else!!

Hey Marty, my name isn't biff. :p and I realize what your saying, I was just making sure of it. Not all companies give you the engine code, probably the companies I should stay away from then. Thanks for the help though.

I'm sure if you call and ask they will tell you. MAKE SURE TO READ REVIEWS!

Why go with a 3L engine when the 3.5L out of the c350 will fit? My indy shop owner is a Mercedes Master Mechanic and he called the Mercedes dealer with me present and the Head tech at the dealer said that the c300 and c350 engines are a direct fit and the trannys will bolt right up. The only thing is to get all the accessories, ie-wiring harness and ecu, that go with the engine. Try to find a reputable engine dealer, like LKQ who offers a warranty on the engine and a good mechanic who will stand behind their work.

Daytona is full of car nuts (myself included). One of the ones I talk to regularly actually did try make a 350 out of a 300. Almost everything was at least an issue if not a real problem. The only real way to make it work is to buy a wrecked but complete 350 that has all of its parts intact and transfer them all over one at a time, But even when the hardware tasks are complete you will then be faced with the task of trying to force a 300 VIN number into a 350 ECU. You will need the help and understanding of a dealer with the computer equipment to make all of that happen. You will also have to deal with the issue of the electronic odometer mileage. Plan on spending hours and hours wandering through the coding issues after you have managed to solve all of the physical installation headaches.

MUCH less expensive and time consuming to just go buy a very nice 350 somewhere.

But, apparently, with enough money, it CAN be done.

With enough money, there is nothing that can't be done!
The oilfield has taught me this... Hahaha!
