Marble Sound When Breaking/Accelerating

Hello All

New to the forum and can't seem to find an answer by searching the threads. When I brake or accelerate I initially get a sound that mimics a marble rolling on a piece of steel. Almost identical to one of those little ***** you put into a shake bottle to mix it up if it were empty and laying around. Given the slight pitch change of the car I assumed something was just under the seat but i have searched high and low without anything that appears to be lose inside the car. The noise does not continue when driving and the brakes look to be in good shape. Anybody else have an answer as to what this is or a link to a thread that I am missing?

Does it happen if you slow down without pressing brakes? Try going into manual when you're at speed and engine braking to see if the sound continues. Then you should be able to rule out brakes at least, Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply! Noticed it today without accelerating or breaking. Was going down a hill. Makes me wonder if something rolled into one of those vents under the seat. I've tried digging around in there but the only thing I could get out was a dime. I'm wondering if something fell deep inside that vent and is rolling around at the leisure of simple gravity. Opened the door and tried to make the sound and its definitely more pronounced from under the car in between the driver seat and rear cabin. Just trying to isolate it before paying out the wazoo at a shop and hoped someone here might have had a similar problem.

Did you try taking off the panelling under the vehicle to see if anything falls out?

I haven't. Not sure how far across the plate extends and I'm not much of a DIYer and as such my tools are limited and the only jack I have to elevate the car would be the jack in the trunk.

Ahhh, okay, do NOT get under the car with that jack. Tools wouldn't be much, but not with that jack.

If you're not much of a DIYer it sounds to me like unless you just wanna keep searching for whatever is rolling around, you may be SOL.

... Do you have kids?... Is it ACTUALLY a marble? Hahaha!

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT!! (possibly... if we're hearing the same noise lol)

Mine happens when i make turns. maybe every 4th turn. I brought it into the dealership, they did an inspection, told me the sound was under the driver seats in the vents. It turned out to be a whole bunch of loose change moving around. (all from the previous owner, i never carry coins...) They were not able to remove it all, but it is a lot less annoying now. Just know that you'll have to remove the drive seat. I'm still a little puzzled from where they removed it from or what vents they are talking about.

I take that last sentence back. I know what it is now from this post.
