Wheel Stud Conversion

I'm pretty set on doing the wheel stud conversion. It would make mounting wheels so much easier, as well as the ease of using slip on spacers. I'm also set on doing the M14x1.5 (typicaly euro) to M12x1.5 (jdm) split conversion stud for the larger amount of 12x1.5 lug nuts/wheel locks.

Does anyone have any pictures of using the 75mm(ish) long wheel studs or the 64mm(ish) wheel studs? The 64mm would accept the spacers I want, but the 75mm typically looks good on aggressive wheel setups on BMW's.

Been wanting to change up the color on my lug bolts but there is not much to choose from. Can you post a link for the conversion please!

Keep in mind there are a ton of different lengths and thread pitches. If you stick with the standard M14x1.5 you will have some trouble finding a larger selection on lug nuts/locks. If you want to run spacers you will need at least a 64mm in length stud.

GSX,
Why do the conversion? I saw your reasons above but how often do you actually put on/take off wheels that you can justify taking everything apart to add studs will be a day long project. I put 10/12MM spacers front/rear on my car with Black 40mm bolts and it maybe took an extra 2/3 minutes per wheel to line everything up. The spacers push onto the wheel, they wont come off, as long as the spacer and the wheel holes are lined up the wheel just get's bolted back on like normal. Just trying to understand why. Just seems like an awful lot of work

I think his main reason isn't the ease of putting on a wheel, it is the fact that with the different studs he has many more options of lug nuts!

Almost purely a cosmetic mod I believe!

And for some, 10-12 hours work is a pleasure, not a pain! .

All for the love of the !

Agree on the lug nuts. Makes sense then.

It's actually a 1 hour job max..and that is if I'm wasting time and enjoying a nice cold one. They aren't like cars that actually come with with wheels studs like many JDM cars. For our cars all you have to do it screw/torque them in to where the lug bolts usually would go. It's a simple brainless job on these cars. It's not like in the JDM cars where they have to be pressed in. They screw in with allen keys.

I take my wheels off twice a season usually to clay and wax them. I've already grown tired of the Euro lug bolt design, and as far and measuring out bolt lengths vs just running extended studs with open ended lugs there is little to no math involved when running spacers.

Here's my current setup.

I've already done this conversion and can tell you the lug nuts aren't really worth it in the end. I ended up sticking with the OEM thread pitch and regular black lugs, forgot what mm studs I have. Also, most tuner lugs aren't ball seated like MB so whether or not you think that will affect the security of your wheels is up to you. For my brother in law's cla, we just went with 10mm spacers and 10mm extended black bolts from motorsport hardware.

Those look like the "bull nose" race setup and those are usually 73mm-ish.

Probably, I've changed the set up a few times so lost track of the exact specs.
