2012 C300 Sport 4MATIC (current) 2006 C280 Elegance 4MATIC (sold)
Just upgraded to a 2012 C300 - A few questions
Hello,
I recently sold my 2006 C280 and upgraded to a 2012 C300 Sport that was nicely equipped with a few optional extras. I was made a pretty solid offer for the C280 and these refreshed W204s are going for a really good price now that a ton of them are off lease. I test drove a few of them including a 2013 C350 but I purposely avoided buying the 2013/2014 models though I loved the new DI motor for the extra power and sound when pushed but was concerned about carbon buildup in the intake manifold and intake valves. I know BMWs and Audi/VW products are notorious for that and though there isn't really much I can find about carbon issues on the M276 I figure I'll let that motor, the TT versions and upcoming I6 motors rack up some mileage first.
I have a question regarding the 7G TRONIC transmission though. Because this is a refreshed version of the C300 does it have the newer plus transmission or the regular 7 speed? Is the plus transmission meant for the DI motors only? Mine still has the older M272 motor. I was going through the maintenance booklet and the car had it's proper A and B services for oil, filter and air filters but nothing about the transmission service. Since the car has 83,000kms on it I would like to get the fluid done but just want to know which tranny I have and which fluid to use since Glyn posted some info regarding the blue fluid. It shifts perfectly smooth in either E or S mode cold or hot so I want to keep it that way. Also, is the transfer case separate to the transmission or part of it and uses the same fluid?
My last C280 needed 2 transmission fluid flushes, a conductor plate and a valve body to correct shifting issues that cropped up about 8 months after purchasing the car. In addition to that it needed 2 transfer case fluid changes to correct a groaning rubbing sound which ended up costing $1140 but was covered under a 1 year warranty I had on the car. Hopefully I don't have those issues or any other with this car.
Pics attached.

T case is incorporated into the tranny, you will not need seperate fluid. 4Matic uses slightly less fluid because of the transaxle in the front (which is obviously not there in a RWD).
To confirm whether or not you have 7G or 7G Plus, we will need a VIN.
