'13 C250 Sport does not have Sport brakes?

Hi All,

First post. I've been a lurker for a bit. This is actually my wife's car but I do some of the repairs & maintenance on it.

I was with my wife when she bought the car brand new, they told her it's a sport. I used the VIN Decoder on this site and it says it's a sport. https://mbworld.org/forums/vindecode...GF4HB1DA794412

She's never had brake work done on it before now. It's about that time for new brake pads up front, so we ordered some Akebono pads after reading up on them on the forums here. Akebono and Amazon both say the sport needs EUR1342, so that's what we ordered.

Well, I got a wheel and caliper off this morning and quickly figured out that the pads are not right. I looked on Akebono's site and the pictures for the EUR1340 pads (listed for base and luxury models of the '13 C250) look like the pads on her car.

I suspect I can just swap the 1342s for the 1340s and they will work on my wife's car. Can anyone confirm that? Additionally, can anyone offer up an explanation as to why the car seems to be a sport but does not have the sport brakes? I did poke around the forum a bit and googled some but didn't find anything.

Here's some pics of the Akebono pads and the OEM pads for comparison.

Pad I pulled from her car.

Akebono EUR1342

Thanks for any help you can offer!

All I can find is that 1342 appears to be for C350 models.

Idk what the non-sport brakes look like. But what you ordered looks like my rear brake pads.

Thanks! I think there is a problem with the Akebono site which is also feeding Amazon and potentially others. They pads they shipped to me look just like the pads in their picture online for the 1342 which they have designated for the front on the sport models. So, I believe they shipped me what I ordered, they just have the wrong part number listed. I ended up just ordering the 1340 pads and will be returning the 1342.

Ok, I contacted Akebono and let them know there's a problem. They confirmed for me that the 1340s go on the sport as well and thanked me for letting them know so they can get their data corrected.

So 1340 are for the front sport brakes, what about the rears?

Akebono just shows 1341 for all 3 trim levels for rear. Looks like they got that one right.
