Braking performance on W204 - Amazing!

Hey guys just wanted to share a quick anecdote I had with my 2013 c300 4matic. The other day I was driving down a main road @45 mph give or take and was coming to an intersection. A careless/bad driver from the opposite direction was waiting to turn left (I had green he had blinking yellow). Just before I hit the traffic light he decided to go for the turn. I slammed on my brakes and came to a complete stop right in the middle of the intersection. I was impressed at this car's stopping distance. I think it's the first time I felt ABS on a completely dry road. Not sure if a car with any less braking power would've saved me from an accident and I'm glad no car was following close behind.

I Looked up at the braking numbers and braking distance for 60-0 is 110. Considering a 2014 Cayman S does it in 106 I have to say that 110 is excellent for a sedan. Also my car is on original pads still @53K Miles. Anyways, just wanted to share another reason to Iove this car.

First thing I noticed when I bought my C230 sport earlier this summer was how impressive the braking is on these cars.

All of my Benz cars have always had excellent brakes in terms of feel and resistance to rotor "warping" (hot spots forming). But braking performance in terms of how quickly a car can stop is determined by traction(tires) assuming all braking components are in good working order. No matter how big and powerful the brakes, if you have crappy tires you'll have long stopping distances.

First thing I noticed when I first test driving them.

I heard they are even better when the road is wet.

In addition to normal braking, I really like the ABS/ESP unit in these cars. Such a dramatic difference compared to the 8th generation honda civic I used to drive, which had terrible ABS in comparison. Made braking in the winter pretty scary, occasionally.

Awesome OP. Now imagine how you'd feel on performance tires enough so that the ABS would not have been needed. I rarely ever drive crazy (especially since I've adopted using dash cams), however I'm still a believer in performance tires, not because of the capabilities in speed per say, but in the emergency handling of it when required.

Just a side note: Quality tires to me is like a dashcam or a radar detector, in that it only needs to save you 1 time in it's service life to have paid for itself.

I second the emotion on the slip logic for ESP. I have had many Asian cars and their systems are just not as good in my experience.
