2009 C300 Command Problems

Hey guys,

My brother plugged in his iPod to the iPod connector, which he always does, but it seems this time it may have messed up the command system somehow. The command system does not recognize my car is on and shuts itself off after 30 minutes, although I'm driving. The right side of the steering wheel options do not work and the dial pad does not light up. Also, I have to manually shut off the command system, which can get super annoying.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?

I feel like it might be a simple fix so I don't want to take it to a MB dealer just yet.

You should be able to go into command engineering menu and check for errors and see what's going on.

To access engineering menu hold on to hangup button + #+ 1 on your headunit. Then there should be an option to check for error. Make sure you don't change anything. To exit you can go all the way down and press end.

I do not see any option to check for error. Is there anywhere specific I should look?

After pressing clear only CGW disappeared. IC and EIS are still present. But the problem still continues

Seems like it's not getting the signal from eis that's why it keeps turning off. Are you having anything other problem? Your car starts up fine everytime without problem?

Should I do a factory reset?

Yes try doing a factory reset or system reset go into engineering menu. If problem precise then you might need a full car scan.
