How to replace engine oil dipstick tube
Hi,
I recently noticed dirt on the engine oil dipstick tube on my 2012 C250. I also noticed rusting of the dipstick itself.
Based on resources from the internet, I got that the rusting could be because of a damaged o-ring or because of combustion water vapor from short commutes.
In any case, I would like to replace this tube & the stick just to be on the safe side, before replacing the engine oil. I was wondering if anyone in the thread could help me by providing instructions on how to do it. Please let me know if you have the instructions for it.
Thank you very much!

Ha! I'm looking for the same. Did either of you two end up doing this procedure? The only reason I'm looking for experience is because on most other cars, the dipstick tube goes into the oil pan on a horizontal surface, and you're able to swap it out without draining out the oil. On this engine, the tube enters the oil pan on a vertical surface. I don't see how you can pull it out without oil coming out unless the entry point is above the oil level in the pan. I'm not sure.

I damaged my diostick pipe working on my M272 W164 2008 ML350, i bought a new one from Mercedes ($70.00), a new seal (2.00) and reinstall it was an patient manouver to get the pipe in the engine block and turn around left and right half and 3/4 turns and I finally got it through. Rmember to put oil on hte pipe engine block end insert the seal on the pipe before you try to reinsert. Should not be a hard experience.
