HELP*** NOISE COMING FROM DRIVE SHAFT ?
I bought my car about 2 months ago its been good to me so far but i hear a strange noise in the rear
So i took it to mercedes where a friend works we put the car in dyno mode and the only sound i could hear was coming from the drive shaft about 8-12 inches from the rear end ?.
When driving you can really hear it from 55-75mph and when you engauge the gas pedal it goes away it seems like ! it sounds like a freestyle sound on a bmx bike its hard to explain !!!! has anyone else had the same issues ?.
does the shaft have a carrier bearing or something that could be causing this noise ?.

I'm also curious about the OPs question. Have been searching but no match.
I have a similar noise coming from the rear end of the car. It is rotational, and increases/decreases with speed. My initial impression is that it is having to do with the rear differential or driveshaft linkage.

The noise I am experiencing is more mechanical than what you would expect from tires contacting the road, or from improper balancing.
It sounds like metal on metal, cyclical/rotational and is affected by speed.

I would do a close inspection of your universal joints.
Push & pull them around with a little bar to find possible slack.
There was a post not so long ago on a universal joint letting go with expensive consequences to gearbox housing.

OP is likely gone, but for others....
If the sound is centered in the car, and is a pitched in relation to speed howling, then it could be center bearing. Should be an hour job or so, part is cheap. I've had 3 W204's and one had this problem. Took a month for MB to find culprit, despite me telling them that it was a 'bearing noise coming from the center", but they did find and remedy. I have audio files of the noise, and can send to someone if requested, although I don't log in or post often. Sounds like WoooooOOOoooooOOOoo

Could you send me the sound/video that you have? PM me a link if possible

My noise does sound like it's coming from directly under the center console area. It is speed dependent but when I throw the car into neautral (while driving down the road) the noise is still there. 35 mph+ and it's almost impossible to hear. Not sure if any of that info is relevant.

I've been told that the driveshafts in these cars are Non-Serviceable. but there is a company that makes a serviceable driveshaft (u-joints can be replaced, etc).
