Being a car guy and an officer must get interesting comments from your fellow workers lol. My wife was a cop and drove my heavily modded (kinda ricer, but it was a thing before FF) to work one day, her chief asked who's car they impounded the night before...

I got mine in a speed trap location where the speed limit changed from 70 to 55. Sign was hidden. It would have been 9 over. Big difference in points. Also in NC where I was visiting, the ticket with 24 over required a court appearance. I live in Texas. Cheaper to hire an attorney and have him go to court and fight it then fly back to NC to go to court myself. It paid off in the long run. No points. It did cost me some cash.

$200 for a ticket attorney is on the expensive side?

I paid $50 for my ticket attorney and got it dropped/withheld adjudicated.

I'm an attorney and have been a Village Justice. Broken spedo? show me a legit repair bill. But 24 MPH over? Don't know about you but by "seat of that pants" without looking at the spedo I know the difference between 65 MPH and 89 MPH. I will tell you this much- any judge that smells a rat will throw the book at you. Get yourself a lawyer (you said you didn't care about the $) and let the lawyer negotiate your ticket down. Don't EXPECT 6 points to go to zero points. Be happy with a reduction to 3 points and take a course to eliminate the last 3 points. And don't even try to convince any judge that at 24 MPH above the limit you were drivings safely. Smug NEVER works in court. Which again is why you should have a lawyer- so you don't say a word that you will regret.

I do not condemn speeding either. I made a major error when I got mine. Got caught in a speed trap. I was going with flow of traffic. First ticket in over 20 years. As I said get a lawyer who can help you with it.

Paid attorney $200.00 and had it change to equipment failure. Zero points.

I used a law student for a California TAB (Traffic Adjudication Board) hearing.

The 'judge' was a former CHP motor officer prior to law school graduation et al.

My law school student was so put off by the proceeding that I later heard that he'd left law school.

You really never know, do you?
