Question about tires

So on a short notice I had to recently replace tires on my C300 4matic sport with 18" wheels. I did as much research as I could in the short notice and narrowed it down to Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+.

I picked the DWS 06 and had them installed. I had Pirelli Nero's on before and now I am finding my suspension "softer" in turns and ride then it was before.

I am reading more about the symptoms after the fact and I now feel I might have mad the wrong choice. I should have went with the A/S 3+.

I want a quite ride, tight cornering and good all weather performance (including snow). It seems like although the older A/S 3 were not good in the snow. The 2016 updated A/S 3 Plus are much better and the 2015 updated DWS 06 are lagging behind.

Since the got the tires at Town Fair Tires. I still have 30 days from date of purchase to change the tires without any cost. I need advice as to if I should go with the A/S 3+ or should I stick with the DWS 06.

DWS PROS
---------
- longer life on DWS (25 - 27K miles)
- known snow traction

DWS CONS
-----------
Soft cornering and ride

A/S 3+ PROS
-----------------
Excellent Dry and wet traction
Tighter cornering ability

A/S 3+ CONS
----------------------

Possibly less snow traction
shorting life (22K - 24K miles)

C300 4matic
I have a 2011 C300 4matic sport with 18" AMG wheels. I run the Conti DWS 06 and just replaced the rears. The tires are good but you don't get many miles out of them. The fronts went out at 25K but because I purchased them at Sears in West Hartford, CT Sears prorated them and I got a new set for about $140. The rears I should have checked sooner they only lasted about 27K.

Sears is the only tire dealer that has every honored a manufacturer’s warranty.

I find the tires a stiffer than the Conti contacts that came with the car. In the snow they work great, I travel from Hartford to Litchfield over Avon Mountain and they have gotten me home every time. I travel before the plows and after everyone has gotten home I like the tires but the mileage you get sucks.

What air pressure were you running on the Pirelli tires? Are you running the same pressure on the Continentals? Maybe if you increase the pressure a little it would help.

Are you SURE the Michelins would corner better just like are you SURE the Continentals will last longer? Or are you just basing that on some reviews you have read? If I guess where I am going is if you do too much research you start getting paralysis by analysis and will constantly second guess your decision. If you are that unhappy and can change over without any cost to you, go for it.

@Alfadude - I am running the same air pressure on the Pirelli and Conti's. 39 in the front and 42 in the back. I dont think increasing the pressure is the answer because that will shorten the life of the tire. High pressure will cause center balding of the tires prematurely.

I am basing my info mostly on a tirerack review which was done specifically between these tires. You can check the review here. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=216

No complaints here with my DWS 06s on my staggered 18s. I've been using DWS tires for a while now on every car, love them.

Thanks for the update. I just went from the OE Pirellis to the DWS 06 and I find the DWS 06 soft while cornering. Traction is great but wondering if the AS 3+ are better.
