problem question

I just started my car and the dash lit up like a christmas tree. the abs, engine and traction control lights are staying on. Can this be caused by the battery going bad? thanks

It could. However, it could also be a host of other things. If the car was running perfectly fine then all of a sudden this issue came up out of the blue the battery would at least be the easiest and simplest place to start. Cars today are extremely sensitive to the correct voltage and batteries can go out without warning.

Did you try turning it off and restarting? If not, you can put the car in dyno mode to see the battery voltage.

Check the alternator - even a bad belt could cause this issue. Probably battery/alternator issue.

i managed to get rid of all but engine light by removing negative battery cable, ill drive the car for awhile and see if engine light goes out. btw, how do u put the car in dyno mode to check the voltage? thanks

I don't know offhand, you'll be able to find that in a search and probably a video tutorial on youtube.

Get the check engine light code read and post it up.
