NAV Maps Updates

yup, me again asking newbies questions. I apologize in advance but the search feature is just not friendly at all.

i just bought a used 2014 C300 (P1, NAV/mm package, Sports). It is still under warranty. I have done a couple of things to it already (tint, 19inch AMG wheels), and now I want to ensure I have the latest and greatest firmware of command and NAV maps.

when I go to NAV, and go to version, it shows:
"2013/2014 (v10.0) N. America"

so, do I have the latest? If not, can you advise on best way and lowest cost to seek updates?

cheers

You need to purchase the DVD from Mercedes (they come out with a new one each year).

Thanks for the link!!

Two more questions;

1. is this self-installable?
2. can you go directly from v10 to v15?

Yes, user installable. It's very easy, a few youtube videos out there show the process, but, just load the DVD and follow the onscreen commands.

Yes, you can skip versions and go directly to the latest.

I actually have a question on this, is it worth it? I have a '13 and probably the original map software and have been wondering this for a while. Does it give more features? In all honesty, I wish the navi was like WAZE as that app is awesome .

I am in the same boat. The maps on my 2013 are pretty old now. It always gets me lost or has me doing U turns when I get near the destination because the roads are different than whats in the maps.

I want to update but I was told my MB Tech that I should wait till April or something because thats when the new year disks are released.

I read some conflicting things about about being able to update myself or if i needed some key which only MB can generate.

I would totally be up for sharing a disk and splitting the cost.

Found some good info here: http://www.mercupgrades.com/Comand+A...-faq-15.html#1

If yours is NTG 4.5 or 4.7 (it must be it), then you can only update the maps if you get a code from mercedes dealer.

To update the firmware, you must do it at the dealer. No other way!

Not quite true....
You need to buy the DVD from the dealer, when the DVD comes in (you usually have to order them, and new ones come out in late July each year), the dealer will enter your VIN and the product code from the disc and that will generate a PIN (code) that you have to enter during the installation process. This has been confirmed with my local dealer and many others online who have completed the process. It is very easy and definitely a DIY job. The dealer can certainly do it for you if you wish (and will charge you accordingly).
An FYI, the DVD update disc here in Canada is $69, but, the PIN code(license) is $179. Go figure. LOL

All, I decided to buy the update. At my MB dealer (Dublin, OH), cost was $249 plus tax. dealer performed upgrade, but they let you keep media and license key)

BTW, the update media comes as a flash drive. This is NO longer on a DVD. I'll post pics of unit later today.

Yes I need to get this done too. Is this just data or do you see any new enhancements to the UI?
