I have had my C class checked into the dealer workshop as the engine light appearing on my dash bored and the result is my Transmission Valve body needs replacement, however I searched for a bit and found that there might be a fault of the conductor plate and can be replaced with the 2nd and 3rd generation of the 7 gear model , however I am not sure of my gear generation and I would like to know if my car model conductor can be replaced or repaired without replacing the whole Valve,
appreciate your input and advises into the options I can try ...

PS: Many folks confuse the terminology--valve body and conductor plate--do you know the difference and what was printed on the dealer invoice!!
Thanks Plutoe, however I didn't get a report neither an invoice for my car yet , it was the mechanic first diagnose that mostly the transmission valve body needs replacement and asked me to check-in the workshop and pay 300 bucks to have it investigated further (which I did not do ). later I researched a bit on the issue and found that usually the fault happens in the speed sensor placed on the conductor plate and can be replaced without having to replace the TVB.Originally Posted by Plutoe

Check it at the dealer. Search google maps for indy mechanics with good reviews; many of them diagnose for free. Doesn't mean you'll have to use them to repair. If you get a lot of people saying its that thing you can be more confident that that is the problem.
