lol! I'm surprised its still available i could get it!

SOOOOO ANOTHER UPDATE

150 hours to get the control units burned in, then the light will go to the same colour as the other one.

so thank god i don't have to spend $225 for a new bulb to match or fight insurance to cover it

I do to....seems like bs, I mean to leave the lights on for 150 of driving. I drive around 10 hours a week. I told the insurance company this info and to keep the claim open until it's solved.

Don't put it off. Take it to the dealer and tell them to prove it. I have never heard of a break in for HID's, never. I think they are full of it and just don't want to do it or they were supposed to put in a new one and didn't... slight variation happens but if it's significant something isn't right.

I know it seems weird, would new control units be the issue? I'll try to get out tonight and take a picture so you can see the difference.

That's what happens when you don't change the light bulbs out frequently enough.

can't tell from that, take one of the lights shining against a light colored wall to show their output. like a garage door.

I know my garage door doesn't show well its an ugly colour, I'm going to try and get my Nikon D610 from my brother in the next week or so, that will get the best shot.

It's not BS. I had my driver's side complete headlight changed out (ILS system like the OP), and it didn't "match" the coloring of the passenger side. MB said it would take time to "burn in" and match, and other online sources said the same thing. It took mine about 5 months (I don't drive much at night), but it did eventually match perfectly and look good.

So if one of my bulbs goes out I have to buy BOTH to get them the same color again?

That seems really stupid. Good ol' Germans raping our pocketbooks.

No, of course not. Read the post, if you replace the entire lighting system (circuit board and ballast, etc.), then there is a "burn in" time required for the final "color" output to settle (and match an older ILS unit). If you're just replacing a bulb, there is no adjustment time required. It will match from the outset.

Guess they were right but here is what My contact at Mercedes Benz corporate Canada sent me.

I have looked in our files and found the following documentation:

Complaint:
Headlamp color and/or brightness difference
Cause:
When a xenon bulb is replaced, there may be a visible color difference between the new xenon bulb and the one that
has been in service for some time.
The headlamp with the new xenon bulb has a yellowish/white tint when lit.
The headlamp with the old xenon bulb has a very bright white tint when lit. This color is perceived as blue by the eye.
Due to the physical principles of xenon bulbs, the color of the light changes within the first 100 hours of operation (color
drift).
This perceptible color difference is particularly noticeable when comparing new bulbs with those that have been in
service for some time.
Once this "breaking-in period" has passed, the shade becomes "younger" and resembles that of older lamps much
more, so that hardly any color difference is perceptible.
Remedy:
The situation described above is a typical feature of xenon lamps.
In cases where only one xenon lamp is replaced in a xenon headlamp system that has been in service for a long time,
the customer must be advised accordingly.
