Alternator problems W204
Good day. I have had my timing chain and sprockets replaced. Ever since that was done i have experienced starting issues...to the point that they now said that my alternator has packed up. I have to date not seen any indication on my cluster to indicate such. Now i know this can happen over time due to wear and tear....BUT...is there any part of the Timing chain procedure that can cause alternator / powerdraw issues later??
I must also also add that while doing the Timing Chain job they have also replace the injector seals in the fuel guide rail and chem cleaned the intercooler pipes.
Thanks people...appreciate your input

I suggest putting a multi meter across your battery to check the voltage with the engine just above idle . It should read about 14 volts + if your alternator is charging .
Your battery may be on the way out. Have it load tested.

I agree with Carsy, first stop have the battery tested, it may not have liked being disconnected and not used while your car was being fixed.
Once the battery condition has been established install new battery or same one, check charging 13.5-14.5v at or just above idle.
Not charging = no difference from not running to running battery voltage.
No don’t think it was something the garage caused, but start in the logical order I listed not the most expensive order the garage said.

i had my alternator broken... also wasted my battery
first i got error from the battery, then message that i should turn on the engine
then comand shut down and a while after every system started to fail to the point i couldn't even open or close the windows and even my brake light stopt working :p
costed me 1016 euro to replace both
