2011 c300 driver side inside door pull inoperable?

2011 c300 driver side inside door pull inoperable?
I cannot open the driver side front door from the inside. The door pull seems to be disconnected. Mercedes wants $720 to repair. I have the factory extended warranty but this apparently is not covered. Is this a common problem? Seems like a safety issue?

If it works from the outside but not the inside it is probably the little plastic holder that keeps the cable in place on the inner door hande. Youtube "how to remove door panel on w204" and you should be able to fix it yourself in under 20 minutes with basic tools.
