SatNav update and COMAND firmware verision

If I were to buy the most recent satnav update DVD, would I be able to install it regardless of the COMAND firmware version?

I don't believe the firmware has ever been updated in my 2010 C350 CDI so I don't want to buy the map DVDs only to find I cannot install them.
