New Member needs advice and any help 2008 C-230
Hi I have found a clean 2008 C-230 for sale with VIN: WDDGF85X18F160923
Can all of you please tell me which issues this model has and also is their any way to get M.B. service records for this VIN over here?
Can you also tell me which issues might arise after purchase with estimated repair costs?
How much do break pads cost and replacement costs? Does this model have the brake pad issue where it creates a lip on the disc, if yes any work around or every time you have to change the disk too?
Oil Change cost?
What else will need to be done?
The car has less than 120,000 KM = 75,000 miles
Price 8,500 CAD or 6,320 USD
Please any advice on if I should buy it or not and feedback to help me decide will be great. I want to enjoy my first Mercedes Benz
Thank You, All very much

2) Oil change - I do it myself. Cost of oil is around $65 on sale., filter is around $17, so less than $100 for me. Realistically if you go to the dealer and ask for a service A to be done (glorified oil change), you're looking at around $300 (once/year)
3) Has the transmission oil been changed? If not, budget around $500 CDN
4) As far as other stuff goes, no one can tell you how big of a money pit the car will be.
For some insight into reliability, check out

No way to pull records if the last owner does not provide them. This is due to privacy/PIPEDA concerns.

i think if you have to ask the cost of these regular items, this car is probably not for you.
listen for noises from transmission (a known weakness) and any strange noises coming from wheels, brakes ect. then do all the usual things you check for on any used car, this one is no different.
get the service history of the vehicle and scan it for codes during test drive if possible. Some dealers will give you service history of the vehicle if you give them the Vin, my local dealer did for me with no problem, and it was a private sale as well. i got a complete break down of its full history which saved me searching and unnecessary wrenching at home.
also search, there are a lot of discussions on this topic.
