Suspension Suggestions

As some of you know, I've been thinking about altering my W204 to give it a more compliant ride (e.g. softer ride).

I've entertained the idea of fun....err...air bags, but the thought of replacing a $1000 air spring is a bit of a turnoff, especially given the prevalence of failure.

So I'm thinking maybe a nice softer more traditional coil based suspension setup.

Anybody have suggestions of brands, and if so, any rough idea of cost?

Danke!

Before modifying the suspension, have you looked into going to 17s and higher overall sidewall tires?

If it was my money, I'd look into that first.

I'm already sporting 17s and running 28psi front and 33 rear. I'm pretty confident that tires alone aren't going to cut it anymore

Your going to have a tough time finding softer suspension unless u swap to luxury suspension vs your sport.

I sold my Sport C300 and purchased a LUX. Much happier now. Maybe easier to start looking for a LUX. I note that the 2014 C300 has the 3.5 motor - also a nice upgrade.

Why not take a test drive in a Lux pengy.

You have been advised about this for months.

Can't find one Carsy. That's the problem. When I eventually do fine one, it's 200 miles away and it's sold by the time I find it.

I wanted one here in the USA. They are hard to find.

The most comfortable suspension can be found on French cars.

Don't they sell any in French speaking Eastern Canada?.

I say again , having 16' rims all round make a 'hellofa' difference in ride compared to 17". See if a dealer can change some over for you to test?

We have mentioned to you about installing softer springs & shocks but you do not wish to compromise handling .

You are literally between a rock & a hard suspension.

The firm seats in MB do not help even if they are comfortable. How about an air suspended seat like on bulldozers ?

Not really sure where I mentioned I don't want to compromise handling.

I'm fine with a more boaty feel. Anyways, as I said, was looking for suggestions for softer shocks that are not OEM (since the lux model has softer shocks). I guess there isn't a clear winner on this forum

I don't think you'll find shocks softer than MB luxury/elegance/comfort/whatever it's called. Even the shocks made by the same manufacturer, advertised as being basically the same, will be firmer.

I went down that road and got the Bilstein B4s which are the "OEM-replacement", and they are quite a bit firmer. I'm going to revert to my stock shocks to get my yacht back
