Car detailing - Soaps opinions
I just picked up a Kärcher K5 premium pressure washer, bought the foam jet nozzle off amazon and am debating on changing up the car soap i've been using for many years.
Costco's Turtle wash and wax $12 for almost 4L of product, its been great but I feel its time for a change.
What do you guys use? please don't come at me with the $50 chemical guys BS lol.
jut curious on what others use.

Meguiar's Gold class is what I use. Parents started buying it when I was younger and had always been using it. I saw it at costco one day and purchased it purely based on familiarity and price.
Turns out it's actually very good based on my experience with it for the past few years and what I've read online.

No lie on average I spent 45 minutes washing before the power washer. The first Power wash was 20 minutes and car looked just as good.

Find your local detail supply wholesaler trust me. I use products from Ardex and SDI Snyders (Philadelphia area). I buy my spray wax, soap, tire shine, and degreaser by the gallon for $12-$20. Go to your local dealership and ask if they can give you a contact number for who they buy their supplies from. Lucky for me I used to detail so I already had contacts and names in the field.

Dish soap mixed with fine pieces of concrete.
It gets absolutely everything off of the car!

Soap: Meguiar's Gold Class when I have access to lots of water, but since I usually wash my car in underground parking with only a bucket of water or two..Optimum No Rinse. I would not use the ONR with an extremely dirty car though..
Best thing I've found for paint care that's easy to apply so far is Sonax's Poly Net Shield paint sealant. Water is still beading off my car like it's got a fresh coat of wax almost a month later.
I gave up on most off the shelf waxes, they wear off far too quickly.

I'm going to go try the meguires first then I'll try something else.
I wash my car once a week, yes maybe excessive but I like it clean.
I have unlimited water, country well water so I have no issuer using cold water hahaha.
If the chemical guys **** wasn't so over priced I'd try it but I can't justify paying $50+ for a jug of soap.

While not a wax, Menzerna Power Lock is my go to paint protection product. Lasts freaking forever and is easy to put on and stay on.
I've tried maybe 20 or so different wax/sealant products over the years (all on German cars), and I must say Power Lock is freaking amazing. Definitely a huge thumbs up from me.

I use Chemical Guys Glossworkz Gloss Booster and Paintwork Cleanser
And for an even crazier shine, I have Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss Concentrated Car Wash
The Citrus wash, I only use before polishing and waxing because it will also strip the paint down to the clear coat...
If you watch a couple of the Chemical Guys pressure washer videos, they typically use Mr. PINK, but I have not ever tried that so I cannot vouch for t!

I usually use Citrus wash in a foam gun, fill one bucket (with grit guard) with Meguiars gold class, and one bucket of clean water. Use a microfiber wash mit and rinsed often. Then spray Meguiars Quick Detailer or Quick Wax while drying car with microfiber towel. Trying to minimize the occurrence of swirl marks in the paint.

For a foam cannon I use Chemical Guys Honeydew Foam. People saying not to use a pressure washer have never used a foam cannon. Welcome to 2017, people.

I use a foam cannon with Adam's Car Wash Shampoo: http://www.pelicanparts.com/Mercedes...admpo1_pg3.htm. Then once I'm done (before I dry) I spray on their Detail Spray: http://www.pelicanparts.com/Mercedes...admpo2_pg2.htm panel by panel and wipe it dry. Can feel how smooth the paint is once I'm done.

I have never used soap or a pressure washer to clean my cars. Just a good flow of hose water & sponge followed by a quality wax .
Lots of soaps are harsh & made of caustic , the residue sits under trims, in the bottom of doors , box sections etc. to work away at your metal.
Pressure washers are just too aggressive on fake chrome, sealing rubbers & the clearcoat itself.
Go ahead , its a throw away society over there in the US of A & it appears that some are a little tired (lazy) & too used to automation.
I like to keep my cars for 14 to 15 years.

You guys need to research pressure washers. It's not so bad I mean when you can put your hand in front of the nozzle on full power and it doesn't hurt, there's no way you can damage your paint, trim or seals.
Car washes do more damage. The hose doesn't cut it when you have well water the flow is horrid. Water waste is crazy and it takes forever to rinse off the car.
It's like having a coin wash at your house but safer products and and cheaper in the long run.
By no means should you go out and buy anything over 2000 psi unless it's for house work.

I have lived on tank water ( rain & dam) most of my life.
Why can't your store your well water in a say 1000-3000 gallon concrete or poly tank then have a small electric high flow pump to service your needs?

Like I said, welcome to 2017. A foam cannon on a pressure washer is not harsh at all. The pressure is used to create the foam. It is super gentle. Using only water and a sponge is super harsh. The dirt does not get suspended or softened nearly as much as when using soap, especially when coupled with a foam cannon and a good microfiber mitt.

Good thinking . To each his own.
I would have thought a header tank would be useful for full flow garden watering , cleaning of gutters, bush fire, house fire, car washing. ....dog washing, lawn watering....

Just figure out what PSI your pressure washer forces water out at.
Where I live, a neighbor of mine spent $800/month alone on water bills due to a water sprinkler system (last year it was stupid hot/dry). A pressure washer allows us to cut on our water bills since it's so expensive here.
Dictating all pressure washers as bad is the equivalent of saying all drugs are harmful. This topic is far more grey than it is black and white.
My dad had a pressure washer that could punch a hole through a wooden fence...
He never used that on a car.
